As a Point DNS customer, we want to let you know that we've heard your feedback and are continuing to improve our service and reliability. We have deployed an all new fleet of DNS servers to replace our legacy cluster. These hardware improvements will realize significant performance improvements and stability.

In addition to this, our new DNS cluster is running the next generation of our DNS software stack. We've fixed several critical issues including issues with ALIAS record syncing, and several other reliability concerns. Yay!

The most important change you need to be aware of is the change of nameserver addresses and IP's. All of our new nameservers are now IPv6 capable, in addition to continued IPv4 support. All information can be viewed from your client area. You will need to update your NS records to some of the new nameservers (we recommend having 4), and also updating your nameservers that are configured at your domain registrar. If you are currently using custom nameservers, please be sure to point them to our new IP's, including any GLUE records with your domain registrar.

Our legacy nameservers will be phased out on July 19, 2021. For uninterrupted service, please ensure you switch to our new nameservers before that date.

How to transfer my DNS settings from PointDNS to my domain registrar

So you want to move some or all of your DNS settings back to your domain registrar.

So first things first you are going to need to export your records from PointDNS to avoid any service disruptions. You can do this by visiting your dashboard in PointDNS and selecting the domain you wish to move the records for.

Your PointDNS Dashboard

Once you have clicked through you will be presented with the all the records for this domain. Using the export option in the menu.

After clicking through this click you will be presented with a txt file much like this one.

to save the file right click and select the "save as" option making sure you save it as a .txt file.

Once you have saved the file, you can import the settings to your new DNS hosting provider.

Only after this, should you change the DNS settings at your domain registrar to point to your new DNS hosting provider.
